May 07: Festival of Ballet One Day for them, Málaga
The Dance Studio, in conjunction with the Evemarina Foundation, has organized a benefit festival, the proceeds of which went to the 'One day for them' project.
This project is managed by the Spanish Association Against Cancer which finances accommodation for several days for children receiving chemo- and radiotherapy; the parents, from inland Málaga and even from Morocco, are also accommodated by means of the Association maintaining fixed housing. The festival took place on Tuesday 29th May 2007 at the Cervantes Theatre, the most important and celebrated venue of its type in Málaga.
The classical and modern ballet show featured students from the Dance Studio, one of the schools which represent the prestigious, international organization, the Royal Academy of Dancing, in the teaching of classical ballet in Spain, as well as enjoying the participation of the Raíces (Roots) Dance Company solo dancers from the Fiebre Cubana Show, who gave freely of their time. The festival was hugely successful and, with massive numbers in attendance as well as donations, the President of the Foundation, Doña Lourdes Osuna Martín, was able to hand over the sum of 22.000 Euros in proceeds, to the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
March: Renovation of the Perez Galdos Theatre, Las Palmas GC
The Pérez Galdós Theatre is one of the most distinctive cultural buildings in Las Palmas, Grand Canary.
It is one of the best examples of Canary Island theatres and one of the most noted in Spain, for its outstanding acoustics which are ideally suited to Opera.
The theatre, which first opened in 1890, was virtually destroyed in a fire in 1918. Rebuilt in 1928, it was declared a monument of Cultural Interest in 1994 by the Canary Government. Between 2004 and 2007, it underwent a wholesale modernization, on which the Evemarina Foundation, among other organizations, collaborated. The grand re-opening was on April 14th 2007.
March: Exhibition of painting, Diego Gadir, Madrid
Grupo Evemarina sponsored the individual exhibition of Cádiz artist, Diego Gadir, last March at the Casa de Vacas Cultural Centre in El Buen Retiro Park, Madrid.
The exhibition, entitled Los trabajos del Corazón (The works of the Heart), traces the career of the artist through an amalgam of drawings and paintings by this unique artist born in the Cádiz district of La Viña and now resident in Seville, taking the public on a journey through the various stages of his 40 years, while demonstrating his unique method of creating a work of art.
Among the items of work exhibited are such representative pieces as the six lithographs comprising the Un drama japonés (Japanese Drama)folder (2005), the oil on canvas La mañana del sábado (Saturday Morning) (1991) and the Retrato de Georg Baselitzn (Portrait of George Baselitzn) done in pencil on paper (1997).
Being involved in the exhibition of this Cádiz artist, one of the most representative, figurative artists of the day, represents a unique opportunity for the organization to take part in the development of Andalusian art in all its aspects.
February: Sponsorship of the Las Palmas Opera, GC
For a second consecutive year, Grupo Evemarina sponsored the Las Palmas, Grand Canary Opera Festival which took place on February 17, 19 and 21 at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.
Puccini's "La Boheme" opened proceedings on the night, to resounding acclaim for an event now in its 40th year. A huge audience, representing the world of business, politics and society, attended the must-see show which, as always, fully lived up to the expectations of classical music enthusiasts.
